Cash is KING!
Yesterday I watched this Bloomberg´s video about carrying $1Mil of cash:
It shows about how easy it is to carry the cash in a suitcase and also the debate whether is it necessary to eliminate $100 notes to make it harder for "crooks" to do illegal cash transactions because it will be heavier to carry if you don´t have $100 notes.
In Germany, the EU stopped producing €500 notes in 2014 and starting this April 2019 there will be no more circulating € 500 notes here in Germany but it will still be a legal tender. For germans who loves to transact using cash compared to debit or credit cards, this certainly has become an issue. For germans, cash represent financial liberty and something private and almost 60% of germans doesn´t like to use debit or credit cards because they concerned about their personal security.
So losing their € 500 notes means, they will have to stack more of smaller notes and that could be burdensome.
Luckily there is another option, you can use another currency, namely Swiss francs (CHF). They have 1000 CHF notes and it is not going anywhere! That means, to carry $1Mil you just need about 1000 pieces of 1000 CHF notes and that can fits into your small wallet!
or even better, you buy cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, monero, etc) and put it in your hardwallet (Ledger nano X) and you can carry as much as you want in it.
For myself, personal liberty is quite important thus having the option to use cash or debit or even crypto must be a right for everyone. To eliminate the choice mean to me as a bad sign for a citizen living in a country because this means the govt wants to control your liberty.
what do you think?
