SATOSHI'S TREASURE MILLION-DOLLAR HUNTERS MULTIPLY
- Bitcoiners from around the world have organized themselves into groups to decipher the clues.
- Predictive markets have been created on groups of hunters.
In the last few weeks the game Satoshi's Treasure has attracted attention, offering a million dollars in bitcoin to anyone who manages to get 400 of the thousand tracks distributed around the world, necessary to access the keychain that holds the prize.
The Proof of Work newsletter , edited by Eric Meltzer , one of the creators of Satoshi's Treasure, published this week that players have created many projects related to the game . The participants are called "hunters" and are grouped into "clans" to have more opportunity to decipher the clues .
As one of the tracks was published in one of the Blockstream satellite transmissions , a portal has been dedicated to gather the latest publications made by this means. The author ironically claims that they have even seized the satellite and turned it into a one-way chat room, because players have posted several messages through it.
One of these messages is glad that so many people have joined the search and says that they "actively use their brains, skills and team cohesion to experience the sacred satisfaction of the research (...) It is not the million dollars that should be guide us, but the satisfaction of learning, feeding our brains and meeting people from different areas ".
The bulletin continues informing that they created works of art and designed a bot for the Discord platform that facilitates the management of groups, to optimize the search and interaction between the clans.
On the formation of clans, Meltzer told The Block that it is something he expected to happen, but not so soon. " People are putting many ideas into the organizational design of their clans , in terms of who can participate, how to divide the treasure, etc."
One of these clans, which has gotten quite popular, is Magellan . The anonymous group of creators of this project proposed the creation of STM tokens to guarantee that, if the treasure is obtained, the hunters who join will obtain a proportion according to their participation in the search.
This decision has been criticized by some members of the ecosystem, mainly because of the number of tokens and ICO that have resulted in trickery for investors.
In addition, there are doubts about why the prize is offered in dollars and not in satoshis. On this, the Magellan clan speculates that the address contains 200 BTC (equivalent to one million dollars at the time of the announcement), but that if the price goes up the prize will be higher. In addition, they infer from a participation of Meltzer in a podcast that the amount of bitcoins will increase .
About this clan, the bulletin mentions a predictive market in Augur that speculates on how many clues they will have, but at the time of writing has not obtained any participation.
