How to Earn Interest on your Bitcoin
As the value of Bitcoin goes up, lots of people are making lots of money. However, if you are new to Bitcoin then it might be frustrating as your gains will not be as huge as those that got in earlier. People who bought in at $6,000 have already seen their stacks increase 10x, but if you bought at $60,000 then it’s unlikely to do that again in the short-term.
So how do you maximize your gains? Well, one way to do it is by earning interest on your Bitcoin. That means using Bitcoin to earn more Bitcoin, so that whilst the price increases, you are also gaining more and more BTC. We call this “stacking sats.”
Bitcoin Savings for Interest
There are various places that you can go online to put your Bitcoin into a sort of savings account. This is sometimes called “staking” but technically is not the same as staking other coins. It is really just like a savings account in that you earn interest.
Some of these include:
• Nexo
• Blockfi
• Celsius
They all have different rates, but basically you put your Bitcoin into the website and they will pay you daily interest that totals an estimated APR of a certain amount.
Note: Please only use reputable companies. You can search for reviews online. Also, read their guidelines carefully because often the advertised APR is much higher than you are likely to receive.
The Best Option for Bitcoin Interest
I personally like another option: Freebitco.in. This was a well-known faucet and still is mildly popular, but as faucets have become less lucrative, it has lost some of its appeal. While you used to be able to easily make thousands of satoshis per day, now you will only get about a thousand. It’s not really worth it for some people.
However, a lesser-known fact is that Freebitco.in has a very good interest facility. If you hold any amount of BTC there higher than 30,000 satoshis (a few dollars), you can earn more than 4% per year. That’s actually quite impressive.
I started using Freebitco.in in 2017 and have been earning interest ever since. Whilst obviously I was wary in the beginning, I have grown to really trust the website. I’ve earned thousands of dollars just holding Bitcoin in my account. I no longer use the faucet or any other features (gambling, betting, etc). It’s not worth it compared to the interest you generate.
Final Words
Please do your own research. I've personally used Nexo and Freebitco.in and they are great, but I cannot speak for the others. Do your own research before you send your BTC anywhere. Check reviews and be careful about fake ones. It is sometimes worth sending a small amount, letting it earn for a few weeks, and if you feel confident, go in with a larger amount.
