How to claim your BITCOIN CASH

Please note: Everything in this article is just advice, based on my best understanding and personal experience of the current situation. Everything is still very uncertain and subject to change: Be extremely careful!

In this guide i will show you how to claim your Bitcoins safely using Electron cash wallet. However, Electrum itself has issued an official warning concerning Electron Cash. Electron Cash is not properly vetted and therefore not guaranteed to work as advertised, This could pose a risk.

First step: you will need to download Electron cash wallet at electroncash.org make sure you download the right version for the software you are using, in my case i used windows.

Second step: go to your private BTC wallet and move all funds to a new address, just to be safe because we are gonna be using our private key to redeem our Bitcoin cash, so our bitcoin wont be compromised in anyway. In my case, i moved all my funds from a "Paper wallet" to Mycelium wallet, before using my now empty paper wallets private key to redeem my bitcoin cash.

Third Step: Set up Electron cash wallet, after you download it open the install wizard which should look like this:

Choose a name for you wallet and press "Next"

Then you will choose which wallet you wanna create:

In my case i used a standard wallet, after you choose which wallet works for you, go ahead and click "next".

Now you got to this point

Choose "i already have a seed"

Then you will need to enter your private key

Once you have done that, you can click "next". If you are using a 12 Word Mnemonic private key then you will need to click "options" in the picture above and select "BIP39 SEED" then click "ok" now you can press "next":guide.png

Now you should get this transaction pop up:

As you can see i already redeemed my coins, it will show you the balance of your Bitcoin cash and the fee it will cost to claim it. The fees are really low, now you want to click "broadcast" and the transaction will go through. Now you own the same amount of bitcoin cash as you did in bitcoin!

Note: if you used any wallet that you did not control the private key, or on a certain exchange, or anywhere else, you may or may not still be able to claim your BCH. In this case, you’ll have to figure out for yourself whether this is the case or not.

Once you have claimed your BCH, you can use it however you please. Just like any other (alt)coin, you could for example sell it for BTC, or perhaps spend it somewhere, or move it to another wallet. I personally moved all my coins to KRAKEN exchange, as soon as my bitcoin cash was confirmed and received on electron wallet. (KRAKEN deposit below)

This picture shows me receiving the coins and then sending them out.

I always try to stay up to date on BCH. I'll wait a bit more though. Many may not agree with BCH but I see it as a hedge to keep Bitcoin honest and in the best interest of the majority.
