Cryptocurrency News: Bitcoin City

It has finally happened… the first city using cryptocurrency throughout the whole city is here. Cryptocurrency’s progress, particularly that of Bitcoin, can be found now in Slovenia. The city known as BTC (which appears to be the perfect name for Bitcoin’s first city) is now being called “Bitcoin City” or “BTC City”, now in reference to the cryptocurrency being used. What makes this city important to know is it consists of:

*475,000 square meters

*500 retail stores

*Cryptocurrency atms

Famous for being the country’s most popular tourist destination

 The State Security, Tadej Slapnik, recently invited the country’s Prime Minister Miro Cerar to Bitcoin city, where Slapnik used cryptocurrency to buy the Prime Minster his own cup of coffee. In Bitcoin city, POS (point of sale) machines can be found everywhere, which allow cryptocurrency as payment. Currently, they are found in all the stores of the country’s entire mall, which totals over 500 stores, but this is just the beginning. The city’s goal is to have the entire city be allowing cryptocurrency as payment by mid July. BTC’s company stated “The development of BTC City into a Bitcoin city is an important step toward the realization of BTC’s openness-oriented strategy, providing its customers and business partners with both freedom and choices regarding their purchases with new forms of payment.” 

It appears Bitcoin’s expansion is just beginning, along with the entire cryptocurrency market. With developments like Bitcoin City underway, the sky is the limit. The possibilities are endless.
