Excellent and extremely well written post. 100% accurate in my opinion on the facts, most noteably on the effects a massive and sudden loss of hashrate would have on the blockchain (a dead chain for all intents and purposes), and the speculative scenarios possibly leading up to a disaster are all plausible.
