My crazy 4 years watching cryptocurrency madness!!
My introduction to cryptocurrency began while living in Oakland California 4 years ago as an android part time developer, musician, and all around curious about all things tech kinda guy. I originally dabbled and didn't realize the full potential of the disruptive technology but did realize it was of value. My initial mining endeavors took place on a web site known as cex.io which i am not affiliated with formally other than as a place to trade altcoins for bitcoin but years ago they would rent has power out for the bitcoin that you deposited. This was also my introduction to coinbase which i found to be a very liquid platform which many people to this day have found and have utilized. Several days ago i read that most of the bitcoin is held in 0.6 percent of wallets. I think this is one of the reason for a lot of the volatility we are seeing in the markets right now. As i write this i just transferred several bitcoin transactions both of which went through in under 15 minutes. As with all disruptive technologies there are bound to be growing pains. Whales will continue to slap their tales as us small fish ride the waves of their actions, sometimes wondering if we will succumb or survive. The possibility of the revolution not having to be televised using fiat or using anything we have been familiar with over the past several hundred years scares people, but it is better than blood shed. It also has the possibility to mobilize the billions of non mobile money in the world and include persons from all across the globe in the economy which is in itself a good enough reason to continue to support the platform. At the end of the day i think we all have to search our hearts and ask ourselves are we just in this for a quick buck or does it represent more than just a glorified pyramid scheme where we all get pumped and dumped. I know this is the main fear surrounding it with very few regulatory stop breaks if any to prevent a complete melt down. The inclusion of a new generation in the investment markets is also a plus we have seen from the investments in altcoins with younger investors understand the meaning or words such as market cap and candlestick graphs and volatility. For better or for worse the technology is here to stay with all of us involved being early adopters. Don't be surprised if in a hundred years when most of us wont even still be around the kids are going up to their parents and asking " hey dad can you scan me a few satoshi!!" What we are witnessing is not just new technology but a quiet peaceful revolution with all the ramifications minus the body count. I for one am happy to have been a part of it since its early days. Changes is sometimes scary,, but inevitable. Stay strong and keep mining those satoshi!!!!
