Bitcoin 'whales' own a third of the world BItcoin market.

A group of about 1,600 investors own almost a third of all bitcoins. It is a total value of $ 37.5 billion dollars, converted almost € 32 billion.

They are in crypto and also in steemit language already known as 'whales', ( owners of very large amounts of bitcoins ) Currently there are about 1600 investors that can be classified under this category. Together they have almost a third of the approximately 5 million available bitcoins with 37.5 billion dollars. The data comes from Chainalysis, a company that researches the blockchain, the underlying data structure of bitcoin but, as we know, also from steem.

The 1600 investors all keep at least 1000 bitcoins. Nearly 100 of them even have 10,000 to 100,000 bitcoins, with a value that is roughly between 63 and 630 million euros at present.

The fact that there are so many bitcoins in so few hands goes against the original aim of the crypto: to build an alternative monetary system without central bank control, which is also open and accessible to everyone.
A concentration such as this also increases the risk of volatility: transactions by a small number of investors have major consequences.

The data from Chainalysis show that particularly many early bitcoin investors have been active in recent months and have sold bitcoins to new plankton.

It is therefore ( if I can believe several blogs ) just like on our platform. Hopefully we also go back to the original idea on Steemit-objective of the crypto coin: to build an alternative monetary system without central bank control, which is also open and accessible to everyone.

Who knows 😉 and we cannot blame people who were smart enough 10-12 years ago and invest their money in some unknown thing called bitcoin while everybody said they were crazy.
