180+ Bitcoin Stolen From @craig-grant and @trevonjb ? (**Massive Hack ALERT**)

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

Trevon James appears to have just gotten 111 Bitcoin stolen from his Exodus wallet by the same hacker that hacked @craig-grant last week.   Earlier I was updating my YouTube channel and I clicked on someone elses channel and saw Trevon's channel suddenly had the name changed to some unreadable string of characters like "eoiioiwieooqwoeiitre".   I didn't look into it then but suddenly I saw that there was a video posted from that channel taunting Trevon and Craig and thanking them for all the Bitcoin.

I almost think in Craigs case he must have gotten a Trojan horse virus or the hacker connected through RDP (Remote Desktop).  Otherwise I don't think they would be able to take a video showing the Exodus wallets.

Here is the video that was posted.

This is insane guys!   If anyone is watching this really lock your shit down.   Don't keep a million dollars in an Exodus wallet on a Windows machine you surf the Internet with.

I'm even scared of his hacker if they are capable of this....... I mean this is serious.

Update: Nov 21st 8:26 Arizona Time.   The video was taken down from Trevon's channel but I recorded it on my phone and I'm uploading that.

Update: Nov 21st 10:50 Arizona Time.  I finally got the video I took on my phone up so everyone can see the video the hacker made taunting Trevon and Craig.

Sort:

just an hoax in my opinion.
no known vulnerability in the Exodus wallet, and the 2 people that got hacked just so happen to be close pals who love conjuring together marketing ideas and "fakenews to cause controversy" (quoting Craig Grant).
And these "hacks" happened just the week after the IRS started demanding the financial details of cryptoholders

I agree. There is a strong possibility that they have faked these hacks. I'm uploading the Instagram live video that Trevon did here in a little bit and it looks like they joined the wallets to make it so they had 397 BTC in one wallet and then Trevon was pretending he couldn't send from it.......etc.

Also this guy Tanner J Fox who was also in Bitconnect was saying he got hacked a week or so ago and a lot of things didn't add up with that one as well.

I think there is about a 75% chance these guys are all just making the stuff up. And to be honest the way the videos are it would seem that way. Craig acted like his hack happened and then he just has to move on ....etc. Now Trevon is acting like that as well. Kind of like he can't do anything and he is sort of laughing about it....etc.

It is going to draw a bunch of attention for sure. Probably from the IRS.

"Hacked" Hmmm. Seems like a nice way claim a "loss" on thier income taxes. Cash out 500k. Claim a million dollar theft to offset the fiat gain.

I was also thinking that as well. It is possible that is what happened but I'm sort of leaning toward that they really did get hacked but I'm not sure.

Yeah, finally saw the hacker vid. Maybe so.

yeah I finally got it up. The only other thing I'm thinking is that maybe once the hacker had the private keys he then regenerated a Exodus wallet based on that to just show it in the video that it had been taken so the actual capture was from the hackers computer. I'm not sure.

It is really confusing for sure but we can assume that with them showing off they probably had 100 elite bit thirsty hackers pounding away at their systems non stop.

They are probably asleep right now and Trevon probably doesn't even know this has happened yet.

That's bad.
FYI, double ll in title.
BTW, steem price dropped quite a bit in internal. wonder what's up

Thanks for letting me know. I will edit it. Yeah I'm not sure if their Steemit accounts have been hacked right now as well.

For all we know there could be a Bit thirsty hacker controlling their machines while they sleep right now. They might have control of their Steemit accounts as well.

You're welcome.

fuck this is crazy!! so is exodus not an offline wallet?

Well the Exodus interface can run on your desktop so it isn't like an online browser interface like Blockchain.info but it still had to connect to the Internet to sync up and all that.

To be honest with you I think Craig and Trevon have created a hoax and faked the "hacks" .....etc.

I'm uploading a new video of Trevon's Instagram Live video where he was saying he was hacked and then suddenly came back on and was saying he had 397 BTC in his wallet and he showed it. It was almost $3.3 Million dollars. I think they joined their BTC in the same wallet to make everything seem super weird ....etc

They will probably get added attention from the IRS for this. I'm not really sure what they are trying to pull off but it is probably thought out like two 13 year olds trying to talk to some girl in 7th grade.

Couldn't have happened to two better people. :)

I have been refraining from saying this but often times "karma's a bitch"

They were being really stupid about the situation for sure and didn't have the technical ability to prevent loss or hacks.

Harsh...but true.

Sometimes the truth hurts......

Yep... and they have kids too. Not like it's just them. At least Craig and Y.

No remorse for people out pumping Ponzi schemes like Bitconnect. Bernie Madoff has kids too

I didn't say i felt bad for them. I was ecpressing That their lifestyle could affect their kids badly and that's a shame

My pops went to jail in the 1990s when I was a kid for insurance fraud. And deservedly so!!! When he got out he spent all his time making sure my sister and I never anything like he did. You either make excuses for what you do or you live and learn from them. And to be honest my sister lived with my mom who married a rich doctor, great guy but his kids and most their friends became druggies and messed into their late 20's even coming from a stable household. You just never know.

True. Fair points

Yikes. Goes to show that you shouldn't keep everything in one wallet. It is better to spread them out. I hope this all gets worked out. We are still in the early stages of crypto so these are opportunities to really amp up the security to make sure people don't lose all their wealth in a heartbeat by some clever hackers.

Yep for sure...... They should have had it spread onto multiple hardware wallets and paper wallets .....etc. Multisig addresses.

This hackers were bit thirsty and there were probably 100 people targeting those two.

Dam i had a feeling this would happen to trevon for a while, i watch his videos to enter his giveaways. I mean someone hacked his twitter so that should have been a sign to him to store his private keys in a paper wallet

I know right? Again, horrible thing to happen to anyone, but really should have been more quiet about their wealth. I hope they are able to recover it somehow

Right but flaunting his wealth was part the shitconnect youtuber strategy, What did the video contain before it got deleted

idk didn't see it.
People like them give bcc & other crypto stuff a bad name. I was always concerned their flaunting would get them in trouble.
I mean how hard would it really be for someone to figure out where they were based on video alone

Hmmmm, that actually is an interesting scenario. What if the hacker knew what hotels they were staying in down in Florida and pretended to work for the hotel and snuck in as part of the cleaning crew when those guys were gone and got on the computers?

They probably would have taken the coins then but maybe they figured they would wait for the big score and get a million +

Yeah. No one is invincible. I often have wondered WHY Craig and his spouse flaunt their locations, their dinners, etc. I always said if I "got rich" no one would ever know. Not outsiders or the general public.

I hear what you mean. Just become a ghost ! lol

Yep. If anything I would like downgrade. Just sayin'

Oceans 11 style : )

Yeah it is pretty unreal. Then to have the video up for 30 min and then disappear into the night. Crazy.

It was a mash up with a rap song. I'm trying to upload it now so everyone can see it. Stay tuned!

Yeah same here. Craig and Trevon weren't very technical and then they kept wanting to pile all the BTC into that Exodus wallet to show off instead of splitting it out on Hardware wallets, Paper Wallets, and then different other wallets like Electrum ...etc.

They probably had 50 Bit Thirsty hackers going at them night and day.

Yeah as They say a "diverse portfolio is a healthy one"
I think it is great that some people are really making it for themselves with crypto in general, but a lot of what I see these particular individuals doing is akin to me winning a shit load in the lottery and telling e v e r y o n e

Great post & photos

It's hilarious you used a photo of Craig looking dumb as shit.

I saw one of his recent ads on YouTube and it was extra shit.

It looks like he connects his computers he uses to access his bitcoin with at hotels on their wi-fi networks. He probably didn't realize they were at risk when he did that.

Exodus wallets have a terrific reputation for being terrible.

You will really be blown away when this video gets done uploading.

I recorded the video on my phone and then the hacker took down the original.

I'm thinking there are a few possible scenarios.

  1. Someone snuck in Trevon and Craigs hotel rooms while they were in Florida and gained access to their machines.
  2. Someone was able to get them to click on a link thought e-mail which took advantage of a browser exploit and let them in.
  3. The WiFi theory like you state but this would be tough unless it was totally unsecured. If it was using WPA2 it would be tough to crack and sniff packets.

In my mind Exodus wallets are convenient but they are like a quick and dirty hot wallet. Not something you keep a million dollars in....... I mean like what DAFUQ?

Omg. That's scary. No disrespect to anyone involved here, but, that's why I could never be that open about making so much money. So many videos shared of almost obscene amounts, you may attract to yourself the wrong thing. I'm just saying if you've "got it" may not be best to "flaunt it" so publicly. Again no disrespect. I think that's a horrible thing to happen to anyone. My mom was "hacked" of 1200 and I Thought that sucked. This is atrocious. Btw, says the video is unavailable

Thanks for commenting @chelsea88 . Yeah for a lot of us that have been in the space for awhile it left us shaking our heads at how much @trevonjb and @craig-grant made off of the Shitconnect Ponzi. Then we were also shaking our heads at the fact they were just keeping that much Bitcoin in Exodus wallets and then showing off.

That being said I'm not wishing them to lose their coins and even offered @craig-grant advice about keeping the coins split up in different wallets and having a Linux machine that he doesn't surf the Internet on to keep coins that aren't on Hardware or Paper wallets.

Thanks for the heads up on the video. The hacker took it down right away after about 20 minutes but I recorded it on my phone and I'm trying to upload that to YouTube.

I'm sorry to hear your mom got hacked as well.

"That being said I'm not wishing them to lose their coins and even offered @craig-grant advice about keeping the coins split up in different wallets and having a Linux machine that he doesn't surf the Internet on to keep coins that aren't on Hardware or Paper wallets."

Right on. That was good of you to offer that advice. I have had this discussion with you before about bitconnect, i think it's fine to do it but as a solo entity only. No need to cause other people to possibly lose Their money. Do it at your own risk.
I am not the world's top tech savvy person either but I feel like some base knowledge should be a given wth any venture, such as don't put all your eggs (btc) in one exodus basket
Thx, My mom's loss was outside the crytosphere and was eventually recovered, fortunately.

Honestly with the Shitconnect, Laser Online, Chain.Group....etc I don't mind if people promote them as long as their honest that those sites could exit scam tomorrow and that it is a gamble....etc.

It was unnerving that Craig and Trevon suddenly became these "crypto experts" and they didn't know what they were talking about at all. Then one day Trevon posted some video acting like an inspiration and a business man..... I was like WTF???

The thing is I'm not even subscribed to these guys. I was doing an earlier post and looked at Sunny Decrees channel and suddenly over at the right I saw Trevon's channel had a messed up name and no picture.

I'm not subscribed to them either your post is the first I'm hearing it.being wealthy is a responsibility period. They don't seem to get that. 🤔
