Too many people can fork and credibility of bitcoin will go down as more and more fork occur. People will see the split akin to non stop printing of fiat. However cryptos is more free and crypto-space is still rule by the law of the jungle. So we will see how successful the forks are.

Why do I see all the big shots, even governments, on the same page when it's about teaming up against Bitcoin? In fact cryptocurrency in general?
It's just getting too obvious now...
Governments have to keep their hand in cookie jar.
Blockchain technology is revolutionary. Nuclear technology can either be improved to generate clean electricity for all, or used to flatten cities.
Similarly, Bitcoin is permissionless, decentralized and gives freedom to the people, however the same technology (in the form of government backed cryptocurrency) can be used as the tool to completely enslave all humanity.
