RE: Will the real Satoshi please stand up – not Craig Wright but Paul Solotshi Le Roux
It would not behoove the real Satoshi to out himself at this point. It would undoubtedly lead to an deflation in value of Bitcoin for the real Satoshi to be known. As long as it is a mystery, Bitcoin's value will continue to climb long term. My suspicion is that Satoshi was a government employee, and possibly a high-level one, at the time he created Bitcoin. He may still be employed by the government, which is another reason he wouldn't want his identity known. We likely won't know who it is until it won't matter any more.
Indeed it could be the secret service who launched Bitcoin for some grand plan. I agree that it would be better the real Satoshi was never discovered.
I doubt it was the Secret Service, but it could have been a high-level government official who wouldn't want his identity known. During the Nixon Administration, a government information by the name of Deep Throat fed money to the press that ultimately led to Nixon's resignation over the Watergate affair. People speculated about his identity for years before he finally outed himself, about 15 years ago, not long before he died. It was W. Mark Felt, the Associate Director of the FBI, second in command. He had nothing to lose by outing himself at that time. It was history.
