Increase in Value v/s Decrease in holding of Market Cap (For Bitcoin)
This whole revolution began with the pioneer of all cryptocurrencies- Bitcoin. It had a market capitalization of 10.20 billion dollars as of january 2014 representing 89% of the total market cap of all cryptocurrencies. Today the market capitalization of bitcoin has increased to more than 110 billion dollars but it currently represents only 48% (August 2018) of the market cap of cryptocurrencies. As of august 2018, there are more than 1700 cryptocurrencies. While the other top 10 cryptocurrencies, aside from bitcoin represent around 30% of the market cap value. This means that leaving these top cryptocurrencies, others only form a share of around 19% in the market cap. Needless to say some the whole world of cryptocurrencies has seen major growth in these recent years with virtual currencies other than bitcoin upping their game. The market cap of cryptocurrencies has reached a value of more than 220 billion dollars (as of August 2018).
