FINALLY here! New to Steem!!!! So excited to start using blockchain tech!

First post ever:

Bitcoin? What’s that? It’s fake! It’s used by criminals to buy drugs. It’s not “real” money if I can’t hold it. Question and comments so many of us hear all too often. The frustration the ensues because it’s not as simple an answer as it is real, it’s just digital money. On its surface, sure, that may suffice but I’m at the point where I feel it’s a disservice to the tech to stop there. In the beginning I had a hard time explaining the rudimentary fundamentals of Bitcoin. I found myself getting frustrated and even angry at times when people would ask legitimate follow up questions for which I did not have an answer, like how don’t people see what I and the rest of the community see?!? So I set out to learn as much as I could. I spent months researching countless other enthusiasts videos, reading articles, white papers, learning about SHA256 and different types of consensus mechanisms, different protocols, lightning network, smart contracts, atomic swaps, etc etc. But back to the original question, how do you explain all this to someone without overwhelming the expectation of a simple answer to ‘what is Bitcoin?’ What about forks? Decentralization? Block chains? What about alt coins? Private, public, view keys? Wallets? Exchanges? The lists go on and on. I’ve come to realize the answer isn’t so simple, and it shouldn’t be, at least not yet. I am absolutely not claiming To be any kind of expert, hell im not even a serious computer guy, I have no IT training, I can’t code, I’m just a simple paramedic. I want to start using the tech in everyday life until it becomes normal. I’m excited for the future and humbly spreading the knowledge I learn from this amazing community along the way. I don’t plan on blogging like this, I just wanted my first post to be a general overview of my current thoughts and mindset. I joke with friends that There will come a point in the future where people are making documentaries about this moment and the movement that started it all, I’m excited to be along for the ride that will revolutionize the world!
