How to user Minergate without getting ripped off

Winter is a really good time to start because the miner can work as a small (or large) electric space heater.
Plus, the heat generated offsets the electric cost by at least 25%, even if you have inexpensive gas heat!
Any computer can be used to mine, but the best computers are gaming computers - something with a good video card.
If you want to test out your rig, try downloading "MinerGate Software". I would recommend simply mining "XDN" because you can mine a decent number of them and later transfer it into a wallet. I also think the coin will continue to rise in value, so even if you just make 25 cents per day, that could be 2.50 in a few months.

How to avoid getting ripped off: DO NOT USE THE SMART MINER.
The reason is that it will diversify your coins but you can't withdraw until you hit certain balances. This is how they scam you. For example, I have a balance of .07 Monero but I can't withdraw it until I have .1. This is worth something like $40 at the moment, and yet I just withdrew 50 XDN with zero problems.
Pick a good coin, and try to mine it.
October I started running the minergate app on my 8 old cell phones. lol. mostly monero and some bytecoin usually combined H/S is around 100 when they are on. I put really zero effort and I now have .015 monero and 100 bytecoin. It's not much but it beats sitting in a box. I have not tried to transfer out , this was just a experiment. I know very little about mining so thanks for the post.
Agreed. I ran my computer with a semi-decent video card for 1 week and got .07 monero and a bunch of other coins.
But if you want some real money, you do have to invest in a gpu
