RE: Is Computta Mining a Scam?

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Windows defender found a threath in program download from their download site. So I would guess that this is fake.

threath found was: HackTool:Win64/CoinMiner

not sure what it does but does not feel good to download software and find viruses the first thing you do.

Most mining apps do falsely show up as a virus. Not all show up as CoinMiner but the ones that do are quite obvious that's what they are. It only detects it and alerts you in case you did not intend to have a coin miner on your computer. There are a lot of situations where computers are being hijacked by trojan viruses and other things that are installing mining software on them without their knowledge or consent and using them to mine coins to someone else's wallet. I can't speak for Computta since I have no real knowledge of them, but I can definitely confirm that most mining software does trigger antivurus/antimalware programs.
