How to protect you BITCOINS from hackers?

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

I hope I can help others prevent your Crypto currency's from being vulnerable to hackers.

Firstly Email Don't use your usually day to day email for crypto create a new email address preferable on ProtonMail. Emails are one of the most vulnerable places for people to get hacked and ProtonMail is an end-to-end encrypted email service.

Secondly when signing up for exchanges make sure you have a secure password with capital letters,  numbers and symbols your password should be at least 8 characters long but the longer the difficult it is for people to hack and always enable Two Factor Authentication and download the app (ios) (android) which adds a second layer to your security.

Next once you've bought your Crypto on Exchanges make sure you store them in a safe place ideally exchanges although Bitcoin is decentralised exchanges are not yet and like we've witness before with the hacking of Mt Gox i'd recommend you buy a hardware wallet for example Ledger Nano s, Treasure or KeepKey which enables you to store your crypto offline and you'll have access to your own private key but not all coins are on these devices so an alternative would be to download the respected alt coins wallet via there official website. Also always use VPN.

I'd say these are the basic essentials in the Crypto-sphere in keeping yourself protected from hackers let me know if you think I've missed anything.

Many Thanks, Antonio Anderson
