Haha, I just checked on a paper wallet yesterday and found the same issue.
I think they could stand to improve the ink and paper! I mean mine wasn't even that old and it was stored dry and safe...
In my case, my E. wallet was able to scan the QR code so no loss....
You should try scanning, too...
