Russian Engineers Will Face Criminal Charges For Using State Supercomputer to Mine Bitcoin

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Bitcoin mining requires the use of machines with very fast computing power that's why employees at Russian Nuclear Center made use of Supercomputer at their office for mining Bitcoin reported by Interfax.

The machine was not use and it was not connected to internet however two engineers thought better use of the machine and connected the machine to Internet for mining bitcoin. They did not succeed in cashing out there bitcoin as they were caught by the Russia's Federal Security Services (FSB). There is no information about the number of bitcoin they mined and this will remain secret.

Russian's are trying to pass a bill to allow crypto trading in their country but they are not allowed yet. Miners will also be regulated but it is also not confirmed that what procedure will they adopt to register them. However these two engineers will face criminal charges and they will be accused of "State Treason" as they tried to misuse the state machinery.

So, cryptocurrency trading is currently illegal in Russia? I suppose mining is allowed...

If that computer was unused, I am not sure it was "State Treason". This is just proof that statists are not entrepreneurial at all.

The smart thing to do was to let them to continue do it and tax them, maybe even allocate more machines, if the mining was profitable.

Of course Russia is trying to pass it now, because they scored the jackpot with the bust. LOL Putin over there like yeah might as well since im swimming in bitcoin now.
