A great article, yeah it's a waste of Power (the waste will be much less if less miners took part but then the BTC won't be decentralized enough).

But at the same time I bet electricity spent on BTC (doing something even if not effeicent) are less than the amount of electricty wasted on leaving the electronic devices open around the world while no one uses them (total waste) I'm guilty of this too. so I can't say much.....

Bitcoin's PoS ....switch has not been discussed yet and chances are - it will never be discussed.

One of the things that make BTC unique is the PoW and any change in "Satoshi" vision written in the white paper, will create debates, splits and hate across the BTC community... I mean look at how long it took to do this last major Update!!
