Bitcoin transaction will scale and be efficient

bitcoin energy usage actually driving development of more green power sources. Also, surplus green energy already being produced (such as excess solar and wind) is often wasted or else sold at a loss otherwise.

You're not thinking of all the related industries and resources traditional money touches compared to Bitcoin. Mining race is a ridiculous energy consumption but with 2nd layer scaling solutions such as @lightning, Bitcoin transaction will scale and be efficient.

Fourth, the title alone makes the assumption that the power is being wasted on bitcoin when it could be used elsewhere. That naively assumes its trivial to transport energy to any point in the world where it is needed. It is not the case.
Sorry, no. For people investing in the space, the concern is rectifying a monetary system in which 90% of the world has the value of their wages reduced to prop up a crazy credit system. If we succeed, this is nothing compared to the carbon created by the system as is.

the assertion in the containing tweet that "One Bitcoin transaction uses as much energy as a single U.S. household consumes in three weeks" is classic scaremongering.

They literally don't. To reach the transaction volume of JUST the Visa network Bitcoin would need a Dyson sphere around the sun.

Visa is old and rickety and it still trashes Bitcoin on every possible level:

Transaction volume
Reliability
Consumer protection

BTC is bad tech.
