Ratel's photos #117 Forest Birds-79

1.jpg

Bullfinch, female. Dirty, inattentively ate. Principle, do birds at all eat carefully? :)
I went along on the hill, and she flew to the other side and sat on a bush, did not notice me.

2.jpg

In our forest it is difficult to photograph the bullfinches normally, they are cowardly.
And I do not understand why they do not react to the sounds of bullfinches from my bluetooth speaker.

3.jpg

White-backed woodpecker, female . But woodpeckers, unlike bullfinches, are not afraid at all! They are busy with their own business, and do not pay attention to me.
Or maybe they have a poor perception, because for some reason they are adjacent to mixed bird flocks. I read that they do this because smaller birds, such as titmouses, quickly notice predators, and woodpeckers use it.

Very nice photography

Great pics @ratel! She is a messy eater :)

Birds are a lot smarter than most of us think they are ;)

Thanks!
Yes you are right! Just very much not studied.
For example, I'm very interested in what the great tits (ooh...why are these birds so indecently named? :D ) say.
After all, they have so many different sounds! And they constantly communicate with each other.
I tried to search for the meaning of their sounds, but I did not find it :( Maybe you know something about this?

btw! I recently found out on a very interesting experiment where the great tit transmitted information to other birds about tasteless food.

I really don't know much about their sounds, but the more I watch and listen, the more I notice trends :) Usually it's the warnings they give off that the cameraman is snooping around again ;)

I love tits :) Tit meant small bird before it meant... well you know :p Can tits be big?

Fascinating video ratel! Smart little things :) I made the mistake of putting my hand out for a red-winged blackbird once, but didn't have any food, and that bird gave me a real hard poke and dirty look that I wont soon forget :) Lesson learned!

As far as I know, the cracking is a sign of danger or fright.
I feed them on my balcony. And for the first time I heard the sounds of close interaction, namely, as I understood, the hierarchy conflict. These are small and quiet squeaking, I can not describe them, but they are completely different sounds than they say constantly :)
Even more interesting, as soon as I first began to feed them, they flew to the balcony, and then could not find a way out. And now every bird knows how to fly to the street.

By the way, in Russian, these birds are called something like"sinitsa".
It was so called in the old days. It is the onomatopoeia of their screams when they call other birds. "seen-seen-seen!".
But even earlier, these birds were called "grasshopper". For their behavior, and especially for the way they deftly jump on branches.
And earlier, before that, they were called "zinziver". Again, onomatopoeia, from their spring songs :)

You make pretty high quality pictures, I did not even know that that is easy with f5, it is also still okay when the birds are flying away? I am still quite newbie with fotography but I love to learn so maybe I can take someday this kinda shots!

Sha

I am thankful for your consideration! Thank you!
Unfortunately, I can not say anything more about photography. For me, it has become commonplace, and there are no more difficulties. At the beginning, yes, it was hard. But the most difficult is the photohunting itself, as well as the processing of photos after it.

Hmm yeah I think you are right, practise and experimenting makes perfect, slowly but I hope it will be better and better. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question ratel!

Regards,
Sha
