Original photo series: Birds of California #17, Great Blue Heron

These are some photos I took of a Great Blue Heron feeding at a lagoon.

The Great Blue Heron, Ardea herodias, is the largest North American heron and is a year-round resident in California.

Feeding herons can get so preoccupied with their food that they become less wary of people/photographers and will allow for closer approach.

I don't know what sort of fish it is that got predated here, but I bet it was considered delicious!
