Life Roads
Roughly the route travelled on the trip described in this post.
BIrders often call a species of bird that they see for the first time ever a "lifer," or a "life bird." I recently returned fron a road trip in Eastern Washington state, and on the trip travelled to areas I had never visited, hence traveling on "Life Roads." I definately took a "Life Ferry" to cross the Columbia River from Inchelieum.
On the trip, primarily a birding trip, we explored three counties in Washington I had done very little birding previously, looking for and finding good numbers of "county lifers" for birds, and enjoyed other cool stuff like this moose:
and this Black Bear:
Not to neglect birds we also saw:
Northern Harrier Circus hudsonius at Turnbull NWR
Red-naped Sapsucker Sphyrapicus nuchalis at Mt. Spokane.
Black-crowned Night Heron Nycticorax nycticorax at Wilson Creek Rd.
Overall a fun and interesting trip.
Good birding. Good day!
I like it and enjoy it.
