Hard fork of the main network of Binance Chain is scheduled for July 15
After the successful update of the Galileo in the test network, Binance Chain validators have agreed to carry out the planned hard fork in the main network on the 20,300,000 block. It's expected to happen on July 15.
Validators and full node operators must update their software to version 0.6.0 by July 10. Those who do not update in time will not be able to synchronize with the new Binance Chain network.
Users who hold BNB on stock exchanges (e.g. Binance.com, BitMax and Gate.io) and in supported wallets, including hardware, do not need to do anything unless they are given specific instructions from service providers.
Along with the update on the Binance DEX exchange, a clearer distinction will be made between makers and takers when making deals. In addition, the procedure of delisting of trading pairs will be implemented, which can be caused by validators and approved by voting.
Projects will be able to block part of their own tokens for a certain period of time. For example, it could be provided by their roadmap. In addition, the mechanism can be used to provide separate tokens for any assets.
The client will be able to sign all types of transactions without active network connection. These transactions can then be transferred to the network using another device.
A number of changes and improvements will also be made to the network synchronization mechanism, the application comparison engine and the consensus algorithm.
Previously, Binance announced that it will launch a new futures platform where users will be able to participate in margin trading with up to x20 leverage.
