$$ BEWARE $$ ..while getting your two wheeler serviced

There is a new trend of scooters. Gear-less lightweight two wheeler with small storage and easy commute options.
Almost everyone in India is buying one, either as a primary or even as an extra vehicle.

With this there is a new trend in service too, and a totally new method of the auto companies to keep on earning from you.

Keeping any vehicle serviced is always good, but these scooters demand it a little more. And whenever you go to the service center, you see 2-3 tasks or parts replacement which you are not at all aware of.
So please go through following and beware of these when you visit service center next time.

1. Be straight forward in your approach, make it clear if you do not want something.

2. Oil supplement is not needed. Its a waste of money.

3. Whatever spare part replacement is suggested; If you do not feel need of any replacement, delay it for next service.

4. Do not go for overhauling of brakes in every service, until unless you have breaking issues.

5. Noisy brakes can come anytime and will stay during rains, so no need of cleaning here.

6. You drive your vehicle and if you do not find any issues with handle or balance, then it is good till next service. They may recommend handle or bearing issues, but do not allow repair until you find any issue with it.

7. Do not allow them to tighten brakes until unless it is necessary. They will make it tight it to full in every service and you find it loose again in a week.
   This is the way they destroy your break-shoe in one year and ask for replacement, while the break-shoe can survive for 2-3 years easily.

8. Go for service based on run (miles/km), you really don't need to get it service based on time period (3-4 months) if your bike is in use. Service on time-frame may be good only for vehicles which are unused for long time.

9. Any shiny polish or Teflon coating is not good for your bike. It's a waste of money.
