A story on how to get to work…………………by bicycle……………..
I live in Sydney Australia, a city not known for loving bicycles. In fact they it verges on hate.
Hate is a strong word maybe I can replace it with a ‘strong dislike’ the reasons are many but most relate to the fact that people like to blame others for things they did or did not do. Bascially we like scape goats and there is nothing better than one that is less powerful than you.
Less powerful?
Well you are in a car usually over a 1,000kgs some over 2,000kgs. You are protected from the outside elements (unless you dirve a contvertable). A rider is ona bike that weighs 7kg to 20kgs.
A car has crumple zones, airbags and other things. A bike has a rider who is the crumple zone……….
Henece less powerful.
But to ride a bike to work is simple get on abike be careful and if people give you angro (angry vibes) keep pedalling and smile, that really annoys them.
This is a picture of a bike……………my ‘vintage bike. A 1978 Gitane. Yes 1978 is vintage.
It makes me smile whenever I ride it. The story of this bike will come next.
But for now I am riding to work.
