5 KEYS TO WALKING IN CHRIST
Walking in new life
Your new life in Christ is truly a gift from God. He’s saved you from the wages of sin and now He’s given you the blessing of a fresh start!“We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4 ASV
2.ABIDING IN HIS WORD
His Word instructs you how to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, as well as understanding His purpose, will, and plan for you. He loves you so much that He gave you instructions on how to live and walk in Him!
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
PSALM 119:105
3.WALKING BY FAITH
To walk and live by faith is another vital key to walking in Christ day-by-day. To walk by faith requires you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and not the crashing waves that seem to be appearing around you. So, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and keep walking by faith with Him.
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13 NIV
4.BEING ROOTED IN CHRIST
This is a fitting picture of your life in Christ because God created you to be closely rooted in, connected to, and established in Him. As you walk in Christ, He will help you grow deeper and become rooted and connected to Him through the tools He’s given you. He will also help you be connected to other growing followers in the body of Christ.
“rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Colossians 2:7 NIV
5.LISTENING TO GOD’s VOICE AND FOLLOWING HIM
We are like sheep in many ways and while you live in this world there are many flocks and shepherds of one sort or another surrounding you. They are vying for your attention and through them, many voices want you to listen to, follow, do, say, and be what they want. They also want to lead you where they want you to go and that's not always a good place!
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.”
John 10:27-29 NIV
