BIBLE STORIES # 48 - Where is the body of Jesus?

Jesus was removed from the cross and buried in a stone cave. The entrance to it was filled with a big heavy stone, and the guard was next placed: priests and Pharisees were afraid that the disciples of Jesus would steal the body.

Three days later, women, weeping for Jesus, came to the grave. But what did they see? .. The heavy stone is pushed aside, the guards lie unconscious, but there is no body in the tomb! The women were very frightened and upset, but suddenly an angel appeared in glittering robes and said to them:

• Do not look for Jesus in the grave: He is not here! He is alive, He has risen from the dead, as He promised you! Go, soon you will see Him yourself!

The women ran and told all the disciples who grieved over the deceased Teacher. Peter and John hurried to the cave and made sure that Jesus was not there. But they did not believe that He was resurrected, and returned home. At the tomb there was only a woman named Mary Magdalene, She stood and cried, but suddenly someone called her:

• What are you grieving about?

Maria thought that it was a gardener, and answered:

"The body of my Lord was carried away, but I do not know where." Maybe you'll tell me where it is?

Then he called:

• Maria!

And suddenly Mary recognized Jesus! Out of herself with joy and fright, she exclaimed:

• Teacher!

And it really was He!
