Trust Disrupted: Bitcoin and the Blockchain traces the rise of Bitcoin and the technology that made it happen: the open, distributed ledger known as the blockchain. As blockchain technology has outpaced Bitcoin, an array of new apps has proliferated across the globe.

My Thoughts.

I am really looking forward to this video, TechCrunch has a great way of talking about and covering technology that is on the forefront of innovation. I just hope that the video doesn't only cover bitcoin/blockchain but also covers investment into crypto, ethereum and the worldwide computer, smart contracts and other uses like Steemit.

I will go into a deep dive after the video has dropped and give you my thoughts, til then what else do you think they should cover?

It's so much better now! Now, I know why I should be interested. Upvoted and resteem'd. 😄

Vitalik Buterin was there, so Ethereum will be covered. This looks interesting.

Excellent does mr burn hands movement

Isn't this copyrighted by TechCrunch?

Edit: I suppose it's an ad, so they won't actually care. But, is this really what we want SteemIt to turn into: repostings from other sites? Personally, I'd rather to see value added. What are your opinions on the ad? What impact do you foresee it having? Etc.

Reference at bottom of post. It is very interesting, it's a link to a video on the blockchain the technology that literally underpins the workings of steemit. Maybe you should watch it when it comes out?

Oh, I saw the link. Perhaps I'm just not clear on the purpose of SteemIt. I thought it was about generating original content.

Original content is nice, news is also another purpose. Have you ever used reddit, have you seen how many times the white paper makes a reference to reddit? same concept.

I understand that. But Reddit upvotes don't decide how newly generated currency should be distributed. The issue is that news sans commentary takes seconds to post and well-researched articles take hours. If "articles" such as this are accepted, over a long enough period of time these kinds of posts will outnumber think pieces, art, stories, and the like... because it's "easy money."

If you'd like to vote for your position in the debate, you can do so here.

Unfortunately, unlike Reddit, the reply chain ends here, so I have to reply to myself. Hope you get this.

I can see a need and use for news if SteemIt's front end were different. For example, news.google.com is seperate from plus.google.com. The same can be said for Yahoo!, etc. I'm not suggesting it should be separated from the blockchain.

I am not sure you are entirely right, steemit in its current form may favour a post that is news and as you say 'easier'.

But would it not be better to have more categories, those devoted to original thought, and those highlighting important news?

This post has been linked to from another place on Steem.
