Beverage Review: Martell Blue Swift Cognac
Hi Friends,
I was recently gifted a nice bottle of cognac so I wanted to share a brief review on it.
This is a French cognac named Martell Blue Swift – it has a rich amber color, and is a brandy made by aging cognac in French oak casks and then finishing it in barrels that were previously used to age Kentucky whiskey. It is 80 proof, which is 40% abv.
The taste is less fruity that I was thinking it was going to be, since it is a brandy based spirit. That being said, it is still smooth like brandy, but tastes closer to a bourbon with a similar finish to a bourbon. This would pair well with a cigar, and would be a good after-dinner type of beverage to enjoy.
Overall, I give Martell Blue Swift Cognac a 4 out of 5.
Thanks for coming by today,
Brian
Hi Brian, have been living in France for about 12 years and had the pleasure to enjoy this one a couple of times (although it's more popular outside than inside France).
Back again in the Netherlands now for 4 years, this post of yours is a nice "reminder" to get me a bottle soon to enjoy again the great flavours of this cognac.
Right on my friend 👍🏻 Very cool 😎 cheers!
