Diary Game Season 3: May 29, 2021; Making Someone Happy
Good day my fellow steemians,
I pray all are healthy, happy and safe. This is my entry for the Diary Season 3: May 29,2021; Making Someone Happy
Due to the prohibition of the pandemic that from ages 65 and above were not allowed to go out for their health's safety. My mother-in-law, Teresita, who is 72 could not just easily go to a beauty parlor.
Yesterday afternoon, I accompanied her to a salon so she could have her hair cut which she has been complaining about how long her hair was and it was really making her uneasy plus the intense heat made it worse.
She was so happy to finally have her hair cut. She is not used to having long hair, she always has Barbers cut, short hair.
But since the pandemic she hasn't been able to have one.
I brought her to a friend of mine who owns a salon. We drove for 25 minutes to the salon. I picked the place so there would be not much people around.
The hair dresser was so gentle on her and made her comfortable. After the hair cut she said, I am glad to be able to get rid of that heavy hair. She said it feels like I am lighter. She just can't stop smiling and smiling. You know those priceless moments, that's what we had inside the salon. I was glad to make our Matriarch happy, We call her Nanay. Her haircut only highlighted the reason why she was happy. What truly made her happy was that she was able to go outside the house. Her sons won't let her go out without a valid reason. So she felt like she was out of her cage.
I am so lucky that I get along very well with her. I hear lots of stories about in-laws not getting along well, not in good terms, not on speaking terms. That even the couples have to move out just so they can live as far as they can from their in-laws.
After her beautiful hair cut. I accompanied her to a drug store where she can buy her medicines. She has many different kinds of medicine, for her high blood pressure for her diabetes, for her kidney problem, for her gout. Man! like a lot of meds everyday. Then we bought some fruits. After that she said let's go to Jollibee, I want to order some spaghetti and bucket chicken which will be our dinner. So dinner was on her. I don't have to cook.
I was truly happy that I made my mother-in-law happy. Our time here on earth is short so let's make every moment memorable. Giving our time and service to others brings about blessings. The lives we touch are our legacy.
I remember one of our hymns at church. The title is Have I done any good in the world today.
I wish to share the lyrics of the song because the words really resonates in me.
Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Has anyone's burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?
(Chorus)
Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.
There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying, "Sometime I'll try,"
But go and do something today.
'Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love's labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.
I hope the lyrics resonates in yours as well. This is my short story, my diary. I was not able to take more photos because I was busy driving and I was her human cane...... haha.
Until my next post. Remember you are loved and life is beautiful.
Love lots,
