Bet of the day: Back Toffees to beat West Brom

It's been a tough few weeks for Everton lately. They are having a five-game winless run in the league and we should see some turn around against bottom rock WBA.

The narrow away loss at Bournemouth was perhaps a slight surprise but subsequent losses to Manchester United, and away at Liverpool and Tottenham were to be expected. However The Toffee's recent struggles have been on their travels and at home their only loss since Allardyce took over was against Manchester United. Other than that they have beaten West Ham, Huddersfield and Swansea, and also drawn with Chelsea.

Sam Allardyce's arrived as Everton boss at the start of December and immediately sparked an upturn in form as they climbed into the top half of the Premier League. However the main concern for Big Sam was the fact that his men barely had a shot on target in a few of those games. So once the market opens he made his moves.

Theo Walcott joined from Arsenal on Wednesday and the versatile attacker will add much-needed pace to the Everton team. Cenk Tosun also arrived recently after a £27m move from Besiktas and the striker will add a physical presence to their attack. With the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wayne Rooney, and a fit again Yannick Bolasie in his attacking ranks, Allardyce easily has one of the best group of players to work with outside of the 'big six'.

Alan Pardew was another mid-season managerial replacement after succeeding Tony Pulis at the Hawthorns. It has been a difficult start for the former Crystal Palace boss and he was unable to end their winless run until the last week after West Brom went 20 league games without a victory. This was halted last weekend after a vital 2-0 home win over Brighton which has given the Baggies hope of staying up.

Alan Pardew's men may well have gained some much needed confidence from that victory but they haven't exactly become world beaters overnight and on all known form, and ability within each squad, I have to put Everton up as the best bet of the day at an odds-against price.
