That is a sunny portrait :)
It was -- haha! It's hard to bring out strobes in public in NYC and didn't have anyone to assist with a reflector for the shadows, but I don't think it was too noticeable
No. it's just different :) You are not obliged to use strobes or look for an open shadow :) Photography loves variety :)
I sometimes hear people suggesting to fill shadows when I don't, so I thought maybe it was like the standard :p
People love to suggest too much. If they only were doing half of that themselves...
