The benefits of honey are many, and known for thousands of years, where honey was used in many ways, both as food for the body or as a cure for burns, infections and other diseases.
Honey is a source of carbohydrates, as the large spoon of food provides us with about 64 calories, and consists of honey mainly from:
80% of natural sugar (mostly of fructose and glucose). Due to its high fructose level, honey is considered sweeter than table sugar. 18% of the water, and the lower the proportion of water in the honey becomes better quality. 2% of its components are minerals, vitamins, pollen grains and proteins.
Honey contains a small percentage of vitamins, mainly: B6, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid and some amino acids. And a small percentage of minerals including calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. It also contains antibacterial and antioxidant substances such as riboflavinoid, and of course is free of fat and cholesterol.
