What a Brewery Tour Should Be
We had a fantastic experience during a recent tour of this place.
Tours are 100 minutes long and run in Czech, English or German languages and are very well organised. All personnel we encountered were polite and approachable.
The tour was very informative, not only with regards to company history and operations, but also the importance of original recipe Pilsner beer in the big picture of beer development worldwide. To top it off, we all got a glass of Pilsner at the end of the tour.
Our guide for the tour, Patricie, was fantastic! She was engaging, clearly enjoyed what she was doing, knew what she was talking about, had excellent English skills and a great sense of humour. She represented the company very well and they should be proud of her.
After our tour finished, we had lunch in the brewery's restaurant. The food , service and atmosphere were all great.
The only thing about the experience that left me slightly disappointed was the souvenir shop. It was very well stocked, there was a wide range of apparel with the Pilsner Urquell trade mark emblazoned onto it. There were also beer glasses and some ceramic items, but nothing really jumped out at me as exclusive or special.
Aside of my one small complaint about the gift shop, I'd definitely say this is a "must do" if you are in Pilsen and are a beer fan.
