The 5 O'clock Shadow
When I was younger I always imagined my older self sitting a noir bar drinking whiskey waiting for a case to walk in. Instead these older days I often find myself in some micro brew or tap house sipping on some exotic pale ale or hefeweizen.
This was some hefeweizen whose name I unfortunately forgot a few weeks back. It was a decent beer, but a little pricey at $11 for a half pint!
The beer is very expensive at this location because it's in the heart of Shibuya and the pandemic destroyed cheaper beer availability in Japan. It's slowly recovering, but prices won't go back down to the good ole $7-$9 a pint days.
The location is called Good Beer Faucets and it's a well known tap house right above Family Mart.
It used to always be crowded with people, then COVID. Now it's barely half full if that and 75% of the beers they sell come in cans. This has been common in Japan as I mentioned, getting kegs of foreign micro brews became very difficult during COVID so places started importing cans instead.
I'm really hoping the market & supply chains can bounce back for craft beer in Japan, because if not I won't be sitting at this counter, but rather some dim lit bar drinking a watered down whiskey waiting for a case to walk through the door.
