Long horned bee!
Last week we got to know a new insect in the Bee family. I have never seen such a bee with long antennas, until it landed on the table in the city one day!
After a bit of research by hubby, we found out that it is called long horned bee, a member of the eucera genus. It is a beautiful and even cute little bee and we had a hard time talking the kids out of keeping it as a pet!
After a few days it was time to visit our garden. I was delighted to find out that our comfey plants have flowered! And even more surprising was to see a bee of the same type resting under one of the leaves!
I called the kids immediately and they insisted that the bee has followed us from the city to the garden and that it wanted to live with us. We sat there for a few minutes watching the bee and in that time we saw at least 6 bees of the same type visit the comfrey flowers.
It is always nice to slow down and observe nature in her little beautiful details!

Just lovely that you NOTICE the bees and share that with your children. Beautiful!! I've never actually seen a log-horned bee and am wondering about their habitat, their honey making and what plants they prefer..... maybe another post sometime soon?? Thank you.

In all my years I never saw one! But when we started creating our new garden, we began meeting lots of insects and animals and plants for the first time! It's been a great learning experience for me and the whole family!
