Interesting thoughts. I'm not sure if I consider the ideas medically ethical. Nor do I think that we (humans) should live forever, or without pain.

Throughout history, the only way that we have continued to grow and "evolve" is through overcoming hardships. If we no longer have any hardships to overcome, we will cease evolving and growing.

This would not be conducive to the finite environment that we exist in (Planet Earth). As such, until we are able to reduce our limited resources on the planet (obtain more resources), we should not be attempting to extend our lives in such minor ways.

Also, the borg being "hive minded" does not seem to be beneficial in my opinion. Original thought is another thing that drives humanity, and I believe that to be a positive driver more often than not.
