Tips and advice to protect your skin in winter
Winter attacks the skin between cold, damp and wind, the face suffers from these many winter attacks. I notice, since a few days (and yes, winter has arrived in Belgium, we have already had some snowflakes) in the morning when going to work that the skin of my face pulls.
In spring and summer, I tend, I admit, not to put cream on my face, I know it's not good but as I sweat easily, when I put moisturizer or sun cream and it's hot, I feel it comes out and it's pretty unpleasant to be all shiny, dripping cream ... But now I have no choice, otherwise by January I'll look like to an old shriveled apple, o)
Here are ten tips to protect the skin of your face during the winter months that are just around the corner.
Hydrating your face
The skin needs more nutrition in winter, if you do not use cleansing wipes like me

replace the liquid makeup remover with a milk that nourishes the skin better. Indeed, milks contain moisturizing agents such as shea butter and argan oil, but also vitamin E. To hydrate his skin, the most effective is still to drink, indeed, moisturize his skin. The interior is much more effective than any other cream on the market. Drink about 1.5l per day, your skin will be more radiant and hydrated.
Even in winter, do not forget sunscreen
The harmful effects on the skin of the sun are present, even in winter, when you do not see the sun. The ideal is to choose a moisturizing daily care that contains a UV protection, personally, I use the CC cream Eucerin hyaluron filler which is 3 in one, moisturizing, anti UV and anti wrinkle, it is also tinted, which saves time in the morning and for those who do not wear makeup much like me, it acts as a foundation.
Avoid water that's too hot
Spilling the water too hot on the skin of your face dries it out. So even if you are frozen and want to warm up under a shower or in a hot bath, think about your skin and avoid taking a bath in your bath or staying under the shower head
Apply oil
You can use facial oils (argan, olive, ...) to invigorate your skin and help your cells regenerate. The oils moisturize deeply and applying them by massaging promotes circulation. It is better to apply the oil at night because the face and significantly more fat than with a moisturizer. Even dry oils leave me feeling greasy on the skin not you?
Exfoliate your skin
You can use a gentle scrub to exfoliate your skin twice a week, be careful to take a scrub for face because if you use a body scrub for your face it can do damage, especially if you have a sensitive skin like mine! This helps to evacuate the dead cells and enhance the effectiveness of the applied cream afterwards as it will penetrate more easily.
Homemade face scrub recipe
1 teaspoon of sugar that will be used to scrub the skin
1 teaspoon of honey that will moisturize the skin
1 small lemon juice to make the mixture a little more liquid to be able to use it more easily (be careful it should not be too much liquid otherwise it will sink and not do not focus on the face). The lemon will also cleanse, heal the skin and eliminate comedones.
Apply a mask once a week
In addition to all these tips and to relax at the same time, you can apply a nourishing and moisturizing mask once a week, which will complete your daily care.
Homemade face mask recipe
2 tablespoons honey
Lemon juice
Apply a layer of honey to your face and massage gently. Leave for 5 minutes. Then without removing the honey, add the lemon juice. If you feel tingling, add a little honey. Lemon has scrubbing and cleansing properties, it cleanses the pores. To finish, rinse with clear water.
And the hair ?
In addition to using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners but also to avoid washing your hair too often, which weakens them, you can test this recipe that is quite effective on my hair. The little extra of my grandmother, rinse the hair with vinegar water, it makes them shiny and it removes the limestone remained on the hair. The ideal being to wash your hair with rainwater but hey it's not always possible ...
Homemade hair mask recipe
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 ripe avocado
Mix the avocado flesh and add the coconut oil and mix well to obtain a smooth and homogeneous paste. Wet your hair, and apply the mask. Leave on for thirty minutes, then rinse with warm water.
And hands?
Use a moisturizer with UV protection and do not hesitate to apply it several times a day. Little trick, as I spend a lot of time in my car, I have a tube of cream on hand (it is the case to say it) and when I find myself stuck in a traffic jam or at a fire, I take the opportunity to apply it, it nourishes my hands and it makes me spend the time at the same time o)
And the lips?
Be careful when choosing your lip balm! Indeed, I recently saw a report on television that said most lip balms contain products that are dangerous to health. You must try to read the label (often it is written very small) to check that they do not contain mineral oils or synthetic hydrocarbons.
Following an investigation into the dangerousness of lip balms, it turns out that it is not necessarily the most expensive least harmful, in fact, Lidl indeed arrives at the top of the lip balms least toxic with its Lip Balm Cien, sold at a price of 75 cents (I also read, to return to the face, a study had also said that Cien Lidl wrinkle cream was one of the most effective on the market and it does not cost only 4 euros!).
This is great information! I did a post on hair care but skin care is just as important! I don't always wear sunscreen in the winter but will include it daily. Thanks for posting.
