What is this "black mask" I keep seeing everywhere?
This answer depends on whether you have an authentic mask or a fake one! Believe it or not, counterfeit skincare exist - especially when internet fads become insanely popular. The most popular peel off blackmask is by a brand from Taiwan called Shills. When you see videos of people having a hard time removing the mask, or are saying it's painfull to remove, and facial hair is coming out...it's most likely a fake mask. The fake mask has an insanely high amount of polyvinyl alcohol which is causing the product to be painfull or difficult to remove. If you are one of the few who have the real version, the ingredient list will look like this:
AUTHENTIC SHILLS MASK INGREDIENTS:
Water, Butylene Clycol, Glyceris, Cellulose, Gum, Xanthan Gum, Charcoal Powder, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Lecithin, Peg-8, Arachidyl Propionate, Panthenol, Fragrance, Ethyl Linolenate, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Zinc Gluconate, Methylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract.
This mask will remove the top layer of superficial blackheads and surface oil in your pores temporarily, it's a quick fix. For longer lasting results and to treat the cause of your clogged pores, daily use of alpha/beta hydroxy acids and vitamin A products are the best option. A clay mask will give you a similar effect to this peel off mask-and will be much easier to find then risking getting a fake product!
