RE: Beat Battle League: Week Three : Love Endures

in #beatbattle7 years ago

I thought this was pretty cool but it sounded like you used a sample to make the beat, not sure if you did or not but I think week three was all about original beats? I was loving the old school instrumental vibe but I didn't feel the gravitational tune of love in my own personal perspective, but we all have our own perspective though. This beat threw me into a vision where there's a rap cypher going on and a bunch of rappers free styling and having a good time. This instrumental also match that boxing gif too, it sounds like it could be the theme song to that image. Keep it going, I'm looking forward to hearing some of your beats!

Sort:

I used several drum snippets from an old DJ battle record chopped, layered, rearranged and programmed using a SP-303 Dr. Sample. The bass line I came up with and played using a distorted 808 patch on the dr202 . I wasn't aware of any rules about samples vs software synths vs hardware synths. This method I've used isn't really any different than choosing a patch for a software synth in Ableton or Reason, except I did all the legwork and built my own drum kit. Either way I'm not trying to be stepping on any toes.
As for thematics, I was going more for the feeling one gets when their love is far away. Love for me isn't all puppies and rainbows, but a spectrum of things both light and dark, positive and negative. Like the Maharishi says in the vocal sample "When the night comes all appears to be dark".

Anyways I appreciate your in-depth review and active listening. Thank you!
Sure beats the usual "Nice post, please follow and resteem! <3 " we see so often on here.
I'll make sure to check out your posts and music. Thanks again!
