RE: Take a Trip to Flamenco Beach, Culebra Puerto Rico

I have a friend from Puerto Rico :) He used to live in the US and now he is in Switzerland.. just saying ;)

The beach looks like a paradise. The ferry fees are not that exaggerated for tourists but I can imagine it is a lot of money for locals. Not even talking about that tent situation. I'm sure that kids were very happy that you stayed at the end..

Why are these tanks abandoned now? Are there no exercises anymore?

Your photos are very nice. I especially like the second one and the ones with tanks :)

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for stopping by.

The tanks are from military excsercises. They were used as target practice. They were left behind after protests from locals. There are actually many tanks, but they are in a secure area behind a fence since the area has not been completely combed through.

We are all happy we stayed, we had a great time!

But were these local military exercises or some other countries held it there. I just wonder why the locals protested. I mean we have exercises here very often too but people find it important even though it is believed that there will be no conflict that would require using the skills that they gain during those exercises.

Thank you for getting back to me :)

Local Military, the US Navy.
Not sure exactly why, but it is a very small island. I don't have many details, I will have to look into it.
