I've bought much cheaper ram several times before and its always the first thing to fail! So when I first saw the list I was like WTF too! One of the requirements, I told the person helping me with the build, was longevity. He assured me these choice of parts were one of the bests chances I had for my rig to last 5 years, with minimal to no problems. We will see if he's right! Also side note I use my computer roughly 3000 hours a year so after one year the cost per hour of roughly $1500 of parts is $0.50/hr. After two years $0.25/hr and after 3 years $0.16/hr. So its really not that expensive.

RAM really has been skyrocketing in price lately, hasn't it?
SSDs as well. I keep waiting for the next generation to drive down the older stock, and it just isn't happening.
