Has anybody figured out how to earn $BAT with the Brave Browser ?

in #bat5 years ago (edited)

Is it just me ?

Does the Brave Browser seem super complicated ?

I mean I could figure out how to sign up on Steemit.com, earn Steem, convert Steem dollars to Steem and Steem Power, send Steem to Binance, convert Steem to Bitcoin, send Bitcoin to Coinbase and cash out to PayPal for Canadian dollars but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to earn BAT with the Brave Browser...

Then, when I go on Reddit they say you can never cash out the BAT anyway.... is the Brave Browser a waste of time ?

Supposedly the BAT you earn with Brave are only good for Tipping other Creators ?

Do I have my settings all wrong ?

Hi @offgridlife ,

I am not sure if this information is outdated already.

But I've found an community forum article written by the products manager of BAT, that says:

Verified wallet capabilities

In Brave 0.69, you cannot send BAT you own to your Brave Rewards wallet anonymously in accordance to compliance laws established to prevent bad actors listed in OFAC sanction lists 11.

However, you can send a limited amount of BAT to your Brave Rewards wallet by registering with Uphold without fully verifying with your government ID, a process often referred to as “KYC” or Know Your Customer. Uphold will allow you up to $1000 worth of BAT contributions via Brave Rewards. Beyond that, you will need to fully verify with Uphold.

“KYC” or full verification with Uphold is also required for two other cases:

If you added BAT to your pre-existing Brave Rewards wallet, and want to withdraw, exchange, or otherwise take control of your previously added BAT, rather than contribute them to content creators
If you want to withdraw, exchange, or otherwise take control of your ad earnings

So it sounds like you need to completet KYC-verification like on major crypto exchanges.

I hope this information can help you!

Thanks.... Yes... I’m all set up with Uphold. I just can’t figure out how to earn BAT browsing with the Brave Browser.

I've only used it on my Droid, and having agreed to the Brave Rewards program, occasionally get adverts to watch/sites to visit. Yet I don't always get BAT... really hoping it's just a bug with the start up and it improves. I think I have 20 bat right now, but have not tried to transfer to coinbase yet.

I have 20 too... I think they give everyone 20 Bat to tip others.

I have managed to get the setting turned on so I collect BAT each month (they add to wallet once a month), but I have not yet figured out how to get the BAT transfered to my Uphold wallet.

Try going to settings and turn on BRAVE REWARDS and ADS.

After some hours you will get a notification and you have to click on the notification which will open up the ADS WEBSITE. After the website is automatically fully opened you will begin to earn BAT and will payout every monthly cycle.

Hope this helps. BTW I am using a laptop but should be similar with mobile devices.

Hi, can I ask something regarding the ads that pop up? I have set 5 ads per hour but I didn't get any ads popping up in my browsing. Do you have any tips on how these ads pop up?

I can only speak for windows brave browser. You don't get 5 ads EVERY HOUR at least in the USA. I get maybe 5+ ads per day and have been using it since they started with ADS. It may take up to 24 hours before seeing your first ad. Not sure how long you have been waiting after activating ADS?
