Kyrie Irving drops bombshell
The off-season is not completely dead yet as some news other than the Carmelo Anthony's situation. has hit. And man it's some juicy news!
Kyrie requests trade
With Kyrie being locked up with his contract until 2019, he has requested a trade from the Cleaveland front office. One of the main reasons for his trade is apparently because of Lebron James. The feeling is that he wants his own team where he is the main guy rather than playing second fiddle to one. After losing convincingly in the NBA finals just recently to the Warriors, maybe Kyrie just doesn't believe the Cavs have enough to beat them. With so many rumors also surrounding the fact that Lebron is likely to leave Cleaveland a second time as he will be a free agent at the end of the next season. Maybe Kyrie can just see the writing on the wall and is trying to get off the boat before it starts sinking. LeBron intends to let the Cavs front office take the lead with Kyrie Irving's demands as he remains focused on the upcoming season regardless of who his teammates are going to be.
Some possibilitites
the San Antonio Spurs are a team Irving has apparently listed as a preferred trade destination. He also added the Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves as teams he would be interested in. With Kyrie Irving still being only 25 years old he still has so much to offer to any team. An NBA star running away from LeBron James and toward the Knicks is an actual possibility as ridiculous as it sounds. Signing with the Spurs could be a very interesting move as I am very curious to see what would happen if someone on the level of Kyrie goes under the wing of in my personal opinion the greatest coach the NBA has ever seen in Gregg Popovich.
Other news
Pau Gasol has agreed to a three-year deal to return to the San Antonio Spurs. Pau had a solid season for the Spurs and has decided to return to and probably plans to end his career with the team.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are likely to promote Koby Altman to general manager permanently. Altman has been serving in the role of interim. He previously worked as the assistant general manager and is the only option left following the departure of David Griffin. The Cavs previously tried to hire Chauncey Billups this offseason.
Carmelo Anthony insists he does not want to play for the Knicks in the upcoming season as time is running out for the Knicks to make a deal to move Carmelo. Hearing this as a Knicks fan hurts a little but who can blame the man after how the franchise treated him the previous season, no star deserves what happened to him and I hope for his sake he finds success wherever he ends up.
Wow this caught me by surprise, just when I thought buy-out talks would re-start with Melo and the Knicks in order to get Melo to the Cavs.......this happens!!! Keep up the good posts, followed @rishherbalist
Thanks, the support is appreciated. As far as I know, Steve Mills has already said a buyout is not an option though so I honestly don't know what is going to happen with Melo.
Crazy news. Tough spot for the Cavs with most of the big fish locked up elsewhere. Honestly, their best bet is to not trade him and then hope to make a big splash next offseason in order to keep both Irving and Lebron (this is unlikely though). Wow, we might be seeing the beginning of the end for the Cavs.
I believe that they will trade him though to try and get either some future picks to kick off a rebuild after Lebron leaves if he does or try to add a star veteran for the next season. But I agree the best move for the Cavs would be to keep him but how do you play a guy who has said he doesn't want to be there?
You really cant, unless you want to be like the Knicks. Pretty unfortunate situation...
True that!!
As a Bulls fan, any player who doesn't want to play with the best player in the world because he wants a bigger role is NOT the kind of person I want on my team. What a joke. Melo 2.0
I don't think it was only because of Lebron James, the front office has done a terrible job at strengthening the team in the offseason and along with the fact that Lebron hasn't committed long term. Kyrie should in my opinion at-least stick it out until Lebron's contract is up!
No doubt, Gilbert and Dolan are in a race to inherent the Sterling Crown and Kyrie should think about his role with the post LeBron Cavs. That said, IF what your suggesting is true, Kyrie is doing a horrible job presenting himself in a positive light.
I think Kyrie is being somewhat selfish but can you blame him he was the man in Cleaveland and then Lebron came back and he had to play a backseat role to Lebron. Sure it got them a championship but it also got them locked up with a load of bad contracts and no real future! He is thinking about the Cavs post Lebron era and I think that is why he is jumping off early!
Man, I hope Kyrie can get to the Heat. What a turn around year that would be. And he would be the focal point of that offense. I do a sports podcast, 4th&20 Sports, where we cover all sports news. Check out my recent post about it and please bringing good content like this to the table! Upvoted and followed :D
Thanks for the heads up. Kyrie to the Heat would make a great story also because that is where Lebron went.....
Great post I hope Kyrie gets traded and ends up making another threat in the league I think this would make the NBA even more interesting than it already is.
Yeah, it would be exciting to see the man have his own team!

I will certainly have a look!
He weak for the demand, I can't stand Lebron tho, now LeBron realizes he can't beat Golden State and "we need a playmaker" (I thought he was the playmaker supposedly best player) Now he want to get Kyrie traded after he won the Finals for them two years ago with that un spoke of three pointer he hit also he got cheated out of Finals MVP because LeBron, that man LeBron has no loyalty and he disrespects the league so much he needs to retire
You misunderstand Kyrie Irving himself demanded the trade. LeBron along with the rest of the Cavs are surprised and had no idea until a meeting Kyrie set up!
I was rather excited to see this news, as later I saw 3 way trade rumors involving the Suns landing Kevin Love and Kyrie going to the Knicks. As a suns fan, I think gaining Love would be a solid addition. His offense adds to Bookers, and with the recent acquisition of Josh Jackson that helps on the defensive end. Also the Suns send of Bledsoe and get Frank Ntilikina. I like Bledsoe, but it's really the same story every season and a fresh start with a new player would be nice.
The Cavs could gain Bledsoe which really isn't too bad. Yes, Kyrie's better, but Bledsoe is still a great athlete and better defender. The biggest thing to me is that him and LeBron are close, so getting Bledsoe raises the chances LeBron stays, which in the end is the ultimate goal. I don't think Kyrie would have tons of success in New York, but at least he'll be doing his own thing.
If Cleveland doesn't make some serious moves, they could end up without Kyrie and LeBron which would be a disaster. Excited to see what they do.
Hope Kyrie want go to gsw.
That will be crazy traded for the year. Lol
