RE: Steem Basic Income - A Quick Overview & Membership Update
I was thinking about universal basic income this morning. I am a new user and sometimes I write a post and the post earns 0 and then I will see a comment like "great post!" and that comment would earn a couple of dollars and I would think to myself that the one comment earned more than what I earn from 150 posts. I was thinking a UBI would keep new members from getting discouraged. As soon as I earn one Steem count me in. If somebody else can sponsor me I'll sponsor them back as soon as I get one Steem.
I have one more suggestion and that suggestion is to add @originalworks to all of the posts that the bot makes. This will give a second free upvote. I was thinking we can force the @orginalworks bot to autotrail the @steembasicincome bot. If the @steembasicincome bot doesn't comment when it votes I think that we should add it as a function because it will give the project more visibility when it votes and it will give the author of the post a chance to give a vote back to the bot in the comment section. If any of the club members have their own bots they can also have their bots auto-trail the @steembasicincome bot.
Thank you for your interest. These are great suggestions! Of course we would love for club members to auto-trail the account (at least to upvote @steembasicincome for everyone's benefit, even if they don't follow the vote trail). We do not have that as a requirement.
At the time that we launched, there were some different voting clubs that were downvoted whenever their bots posted comments. We chose not to comment when we upvote to eliminate that attack vector. Since we haven't seen that as an issue on Steem in a while, putting a comment bot in place to trail the votes is a good idea that we can look into.
We do reuse some material from previous posts in each new update, instead of writing each update from scratch. We have not specifically tried to get @originalworks to trail, since we don't know what the threshold is that would convince it that we are plagiarizing ourselves.
Thanks for letting me know this. I didn't even consider that people would downvote the bot and that every comment the bot left would leave the project vulnerable to attack.
I think you are right that people are becoming more comfortable with bots being on Steem. I should also build my own auto-trail bot. I just need to find a good tutorial on how to build one. I'm going to resteem this to try increase visibility for the project.
I know there is streemian for trailing other curators, and Steemvoter for 'subscribing' to upvote particular users. We played around with some other voting bots, but we could not configure everything the way we wanted, so now we use Steemvoter.
The @OriginalWorks bot has determined this post by @steembasicincome to be original material and upvoted it!
