Batting is considered as one of the most challenging feats in sports as it entails targeting a small round ball, to make things more difficult it is usually moving at high velocity with a thin round bat.

You probably heard someone saying that hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in sports. Well, it is very challenging but with good practice over time it can be very enjoyable. Learning and playing sustainably the proper fundamentals of hitting is not easy, but it is the only way to become a consistent hitter.

  1. Batting Grip
    Ensure you have a firm grip while holding it more in the fingers and not way back into palm Also, try to line your door-knocking knuckles. A good grip helps you to control the bat and make a better swing.

    Pushups and crunches are very helpful in increasing power, bat speed and the overall strength that you need to hit the ball.

  6. Correct Front Foot Stance
    When making a swing, it is always important to keep your front foot at an angle of 45 degrees towards the plate. Correct foot stance greatly brings out a devastating striking power and an incredible bat speed.

  7. Making A Fluid Swing
    You don’t need to swing as hard as you can but swinging the bat in a continuous fluid motion by ensuring that you follow all the way through with the swing. Don’t stop at the moment of contact; instead, swing all the way through the hitting zone.
    When moving your hands towards the ball, keep them back contrary to extending your arms or pushing them forward. It allows you to generate more energy.

  8. Batting Stance
    Keep everything simple by having both feet parallel and shoulder width apart and stand in the middle of the batter’s box. With a slight knee bend, hold the bat in a vertical position just slightly angled over the back shoulder.
    The foot stance should be comfortable, approximately a bat plus an arm’s length away from the opposite side of the plate.

  9. Focus On Flexibility
    Focusing flexibility through exercises builds core strength and stability as well as boosting the range of motion. Flexibility boosts reaction time and bat speed, in addition to keeping your kinetic chain fluid and powerful.
