Red Sox Ace Joins Elite 300K Club
Chris Sale picked up his 300th strike out last night against the Baltimore Orioles with family and friends in attendance. "The Condor" mowed down Ryan Flaherty of Bal. in the 8th inning of yesterdays game to become only the 35th pitcher in MLB history to accomplish the feat.

The last player to record 300 in a season was the Dodgers Ace hurler Clayton Kershaw in 2015. Its a rare accomplishment in a game with over 100+ years of history. When he recorded number 300 there was a large contingent of RedSox fans in attendance in Baltimore that stood up and roared. Sale walked back to the dug out and the RedSox players met him on the stairs and congratulated the lefty on his accomplishment.
The last RedSox player to record 300 strikeouts was Pedro Martinez in 1999. That's elite company to be in the presence of on a franchise with rich history. A reporter questioned Chris about that..
Chris said, "That's special. We all know that's about as good a company as you can get," He added, "I'm just appreciative of it. It's fun. Being here and having that name thrown around is special to me, I don't take it lightly. He's one of the best to ever step on that mound. To be in the same sentence as him is pretty crazy to me."
Since Boston acquired Sale last year from the White Sox the pitcher has been fantastic. Chris looks poised to lead the BoSox deep into the post season. The clubs playing great ball and after wallowing with the woeful White Sox for so long, its nice as a fan to see him on a contending team with a real shot to win. After the letdown that has been the pick up of David Price a couple seasons ago its great the RedSox are getting their moneys worth and more from Chris. Of course the lefty Price has been battling injuries since he was picked up by the team.
As a note, when I was researching for this article I discovered that the great Nolan Ryan recorded 300 Ks 5 times! That is pretty impressive.

That's very impressive, I knew he was having a good year, but didn't realize it was just that good.
Hes 17-7 with a whip of 0.95, 300+ ks equals a fantastic year. Hes been fun to watch. Thx @phelimint for stopping by!
Quite the feat. Great offseason pickup by the sox, much better than the Price pick up a year before. As a Jays fan I can't support this though haha

Yeah man they put so much torque on thier arms its amazing all em arent getting tommy john. I saw a sports science show that simulated the arm and the forces that they go thru, it determined the arm cant withstand this kinda abuse for very long. thx for checking out my blog @crowdini
