The creative ideas of young Balinese artists are endless, there must always be new innovations to give birth to unique and quality works. As performed by one of Bali's young artists I Komang Marjana.

With a touch of art from this Kesiman artist, he is able to transform the old newspapers and dried banana leaves into aesthetic and mesmerizing works. Recently the artist who is familiarly called Cedut make a barong that managed to seize the attention of the citizens of Bali, especially residents of Denpasar.

Barong is a form of Balinese art that uses a symbol resembling a lion with unique materials such as newspapers and kraras (dried banana leaves). Barong has 2 functions namely the sacred barong and barong to be staged. "Here I want to lift a barong that is for staging, so they know barong is not only made of parelu feather but can be used from used goods such as newspaper or dried banana leaf," said komang.

For him, each barong has its own meaning. Kraras (dried banana leaves) as barong base material, symbolizes the recycling of natural materials that can actually be utilized into art objects.

"To barong used newspaper materials as recyclable materials, show the creative power of artists in utilizing objects around them and also can help the government reduce the volume of waste because we know that garbage is a serious problem for the Balinese" Komang added.

According to almuni SMK PGRI 1 Denpasar, in this barong making process it takes 3 months. That's because morning until afternoon he works and can only do it at night. In the process of making Komang certainly has difficulties.

"The difficulty is only the most processed binding course, because I make this work itself so difficult if tied itself," explained the teenager who is also one member of the creative team at Sanggar Penggak Men Mersi.
