Aleksa's Book Review: Disrupting Finance
Thankfully, a step away from banking and more toward financial technology was the breath of fresh air I needed in order not to perform sudoku. This book explains some of the most innovative and powerful waves of new technologies and business models in the financial world...in 2017. Although outdated, a great read nonetheless.
Some of the most important insights on artificial intelligence, machine learning, distributed ledgers, big data, and others are in this book - as well as high frequency trading algorithms and much else. This has way more to do with the products and less with the business models of the financial world, something I simultaneously like and am wary of.
As large financial players are warming up to the AI and blockchain revolutions, it seems less and less likely that we'll be able to step away from the ever-encroaching monolithic monopoly of international institutional finance. I'm not happy with it, and I'm sure the next Satoshi Nakamoto will be out in force shortly as this crisis reaches its peak.
